[The woman on the screen is not wearing a lab coat, despite her username, but if she's not a mad scientist she's missed her calling in life. Despite the punk-ish shock of bleached-blonde hair and the glimpses of best-of-Goodwill-chic clothes, something about her just screams it.

She peers at the camera through yellow-tinted safety glasses, checking to make sure it's on, then pulls back and flashes the network an enormous grin.]

This is awesome.

[A tattooed redhead sitting beside a fire, if the flickering light is any indication, responds with a little smile of her own at her enthusiasm.]

It certainly seems like it! I...well, I was going to wait until morning to venture in, myself, but it appears it's daytime there? Very strange.

[It is very clearly night in Katherine's own location.]

[Interesting. Not an unknown phenomenon to Holtzmann, but early nightfall also usually coincides with ghost activity. She leans forward with her elbows on her knees and peers at the screen, trying to make out what else is around the redhead.]

Where are you?

[She's definitely outdoors - in fact, in the wilderness. There's no signs of civilization anywhere in the background, not even noise. There's very little light pollution, as well; what she can see of the sky is filled with stars.]

My own world. Do you think time passes differently between each one?

[The concept of it being a different time of day somewhere else is a little strange to Katherine. Her concept of her world, is, in fact, her continent, and that means generally day is day and night is night and that's true for everyone.]

We can call in from the other side? I missed that part.

[Huh.]

Well, anyway, axiomatically, time passes differently between planes.

[Wait a minute, she's forgetting that for any one person everything could be different.]

How many other planes have you seen? Here, there are only two, or there were until I was given this device.

That's when you're talking single-dimension spacetime. Once you start poking through the membranes, things get weird.

[Things that a less...medieval listener might take without a single thought, concepts that worked their way into pop culture via science fiction like multiple dimensions, those are utterly mystifying to Katherine.]

...Definitely weird. It's so odd to see daylight behind you but have stars above my own head, and neither of us in the Fade. That's-...um, that's the other one here, by the way. I assume the other is the one your dreams come from, too?

[What do other worlds call the Fade? That's the other plane before the city on the other side of the device she's alluding to, right? Maybe she's a mage, too. It's hard to imagine a world without these things.]

[She shakes her head.]

Ghosts.

[Said completely matter-of-factly.]

Ghosts? Of...people?

[She's seen that maybe...a handful of times. Souls generally don't stick around unless something binds them.]

Or spirits in general - we have those!
