WSFC - Broadcast 0011 - December 19th
Good morning, everyone. This is [ snap crackle ] coming to you live from the top of the McAran Building here in the City of Tomorrow, and we'd like to apologize for the lateness of this broadcast. We've been having some sound problems here in the new office, great as it is, and unfortunately, the tech who got assigned our support ticket died tragically in a debugging attempt over at St. Vidicon's.
Which actually brings us to our first news story. And... well, warning. Apparently, some of the programming has gone awry in some of the holiday animatronics around the City. The tech support folks are on it, but should you see any snowmen, reindeer, jolly elves, or Santa Clauses that seem to be unnervingly interested in what you're doing, we'd encourage you to report them immediately to St. Vidicon's for service. If that's not possible, stay in a crowded area until you can do so. They only target those traveling alone...
[ A clearing of the throat and some forced cheer. ]
In brighter news, the St. Jude's Church annual food drive is going strong this year. The nuns report record numbers, warm spirits, and plenty of food to go out to those in need in the Shadows and, they hope, beyond. Anyone who'd like to donate, please feel free to use the boxes in front of the church. But more importantly, anyone who'd like to assist in carrying out deliveries in some of the more... dangerous neighborhoods, they're taking volunteers and would much appreciate the help.
Meanwhile, believe it or not, but the folks in Nightmare have been getting festive as well. Someone has been leaving presents around the City, wrapped in orange and black, green and purple, and the gifts have been... well, suited to the City folk, anyway. Anyone else who might venture in, we caution you to exercise good judgement should you open one up and see a doll with teeth bigger than yours, let's just say that. Also, don't look too hard at what some of those decorations are. Ever since that year when one of the covens figured out you can use eyeballs for ornaments...
[ audible shudder ]
ANYWAY, over in the City of Laughter, Super Funland has gotten into the holiday spirit by changing up some of their areas to holiday themed attractions. Christmas Town, Hannukah Village, Solstice Crossroads, Lifeday Forest... you name it, they've probably got it. They're also showing the spirit of giving in their prices, which is why the attractions are in fact 20% off for the moment. Honestly, it's not to be missed. They put on quite a show...
[ a bit of humming as they shuffle papers ]
The Outpost over in Adventure is experiencing record snow and exceptional drops in temperature of late, so we advise any travelers on the way there from any direction to get some cold weather gear before they point themselves that way. We'd also remind some of the more hardy and adventurous of travelers that alcohol does not actually make you warm. Nothing like digging corpses out of the snow to make the holidays awkward, after all...
[ deep sigh ]
And of course, Romance's Fashion Avenue is having it's annual Holiday Market. Shoppers interested in the best deals and some of the most unique gifts should make their way to the City and bundle up to do a little open air shopping at the various stalls set up by the vendors there. Thankfully, there's always the hot chocolate and hot cider stalls scattered around for frosty shoppers to melt off a little and from what we're hearing, there's going to be a life band this year playing music. Definitely not an event to miss!
Last but not least, of course, The Slaughtered Boar is hosting a holiday meal for any and all who might not have anywhere else that they'd care to go. They'll be having a bounty of roast pigs, beef, game hen, venison, and a full compliment of vegetarian and vegan options, something for everyone and plenty of it. The owner is hoping to host a gift exchange as well for those willing to bring a gift of small value, though no one is obliged to take part. All the same, from what I've heard the cookies are absolutely top notch, not to be missed.
Which brings the broadcast to a close, of course. Happy Holidays from those us here WSFC and all the best in the coming new year!
...it can't be worse, anyway.
