[The video clicks on to a young-looking male, who waves cheerfully at the camera.]

Testing, testing, is this thing on ~ ?

[He laughs, amused, knowing full well that it is. He's not technologically incompetent, after all.]

What does everyone do for fun here? Do tell, I'm so curious to know. Where to go, what to see... ~

[He's smiling as he speaks. Anyone who knows him might call it an infuriating smile, but it comes off as cheerful and innocent and he waves again, before the video feed clicks off.]

[Someone new is always good. Someone who is also friendly is even better. Such instances provide potential and possibility that others do not. Such instances may mean a friend.]

Mirthful greetings my compatrially! Welcome to the mother fuckin city! We kick it legit by all manner righteous here, brother! I have found personal revelry in the exploration of all the lands! In particular, the city of sorcery host many an arcane script, and within humor, there is much mirth to be had. My matesprit is preferential to the city of romance.

[The warm greeting has him beaming. People have not been unfriendly to him, but this sort of brightness is not typically found beyond himself.]

You are most welcome, brother. I do say humor is a proper fuckin legit and is sure to delight.

[He preforms a gracious bow, then proceeds to explain.]

A Matesprit is one of four romantic quadrants. Moirail, Matesprit, Kismesis, and Auspistice. Moirails and Matesprits are built upon fondness known as pity. The latter, Kismesis and Auspistices are built up our negative romantic inclinations. Moirails and Auspistices are meant for conciliatory practices, whereas Kismesis' and Matesprits are for, well, you know. The miracles of shared kiss and a held hand and likewise. My Matesprit could elaborate further. Quadrants are her specialty. My strength lay only within spotting strong black relations.

[He pauses.] But surely you must know this. Did you mean to test to my knowledge, brother?

Never have you been witness to the miracle of quadrants?

[He can't help but gape a little. How is that possible? How did one grow up and simply not just... know? Even without the guidance of a lusus or anyone at all, surely it must have been seen or felt...

But apparently not. He should be kind. He should be sensitive to the... some word Kankri would know. But it is still so astounding, it is difficult to hide his surprise.]

Well, in such a case there is many more a wonder to behold! Perhaps the city of romance then shall prove of interest!

[Um. How does she answer this? The last time she did something for fun was giving Anders a tour of Tomorrow and its surroundings.]

Exploring is fun in its own right - I suggest starting wherever is most alien to you. What sort of place is your home?
boundinblood: (This doesn't bode well...)

[Wait, what? Katherine gives the man - who appears to be an elf to her - a long look. The clothing isn't terribly alien, but also is, somehow. And he holds himself with noble bearing, not something one would find on an elf with a face clear of tattoos most of the time, save those of rank within the Circle.

"Bathory" doesn't sound like an elf's name or anything associated with any elf culture, but at the same time, who's to say it's not something from a favorite book, or the name of a pet, or a friend, or a place? It could be anything.]

I'm so sorry, that's a terrible thing to happen to a people. But it sounds like something I've heard of... What was this capital called?
boundinblood: (Can't we all just get along?)

[...That name isn't familiar. So he's not an early elf, then. Is he even Thedosian? The way he lingers on the end of every sentence is bizarre, and a little grating, like it's too cheerful. She's not used to that kind of thing from adults.

But maybe that's his way of trying to cope? She only just started talking to him, after all.]

I'm sorry. I can see why some...greedier people might want that for themselves. Especially if the inhabitants look different enough they can justify it.
