[CALL] Video; UN: ironiclabcoat
[The woman on the screen is not wearing a lab coat, despite her username, but if she's not a mad scientist she's missed her calling in life. Despite the punk-ish shock of bleached-blonde hair and the glimpses of best-of-Goodwill-chic clothes, something about her just screams it.
She peers at the camera through yellow-tinted safety glasses, checking to make sure it's on, then pulls back and flashes the network an enormous grin.]
This is awesome.

[The woman on this end looks a bit more... Ren-Faire-reject than anything else, though the singe-marks on her sleeves are very genuine to he trained eye.]

Anything I should know that I woulda missed on the self-guided tour?

[ There's a good humoured warmth in her voice, though her eyes glitter with mischief. ]
In that case, what are you interested in?
...if the answer to that question is 'everything', then perhaps you'd like a guided tour...?

[She tips the camera just enough to show the grounds of St. Vidicon stretching out behind her.]
I've seen enough to know I'm putting down roots here, but if I'm missing out on anything cool...

It really is, isn't it? I've only just arrived and it's been quite the experience already.

Ohyeah? [It's one word, the way she says it.] Where did you end up?

[She grins broadly.]
Pretty kickin', right?

It certainly seems like it! I...well, I was going to wait until morning to venture in, myself, but it appears it's daytime there? Very strange.
[It is very clearly night in Katherine's own location.]
no subject
Where are you?
no subject
My own world. Do you think time passes differently between each one?
[The concept of it being a different time of day somewhere else is a little strange to Katherine. Her concept of her world, is, in fact, her continent, and that means generally day is day and night is night and that's true for everyone.]
no subject
[Huh.]
Well, anyway, axiomatically, time passes differently between planes.
no subject
[Wait a minute, she's forgetting that for any one person everything could be different.]
How many other planes have you seen? Here, there are only two, or there were until I was given this device.

Not bad, huh? Have you gotten to explore the cities yet?
no subject
Some. Apparently I'm about to get a space tour from one of you good Samaritans.
[The city is also exceedingly cool, and she remains pumped about this.]

Do you know what makes 'em tick yet?

[ His to-do list is getting pretty long, but whatever. He is truly a tinkerer, so taking the flying car apart is definitely a thing he needs to do. ]

Who is this?

Arthur.
[It certainly fits in with his username.]
I'm new as well. Very new, in fact; I only arrived a few days ago.

Jillian Holtzmann. You don't like the phone?
[Skyping a stranger is weird, but texting with one feels weirder. For all she knows, he's actually Rowan North, back from the dead yet again.]
no subject
Besides: it's easier to do two things at once if I'm texting. I can give both the conversation and whatever I'm doing my full attention instead of constantly splitting it.
What does a nuclear engineer do, exactly? Or, more importantly: what does a nuclear engineer work on here?
