[CALL] Video; UN: ironiclabcoat

[The woman on the screen is not wearing a lab coat, despite her username, but if she's not a mad scientist she's missed her calling in life. Despite the punk-ish shock of bleached-blonde hair and the glimpses of best-of-Goodwill-chic clothes, something about her just screams it.

She peers at the camera through yellow-tinted safety glasses, checking to make sure it's on, then pulls back and flashes the network an enormous grin.]

This is awesome.

Yes, it is.

[The woman on this end looks a bit more... Ren-Faire-reject than anything else, though the singe-marks on her sleeves are very genuine to he trained eye.]

Well that depends entirely on the nature of your tour.

So the usual then.

[ There's a good humoured warmth in her voice, though her eyes glitter with mischief. ]

In that case, what are you interested in?

...if the answer to that question is 'everything', then perhaps you'd like a guided tour...?

[ As tired as she is, Lily can't help but smile at this woman's enthusiasm - and, thankfully, at this point in her life she's rather used to mad scientist looks. she has her hair tied up and her own clothes are very 'late 1970s' chic. ]

It really is, isn't it? I've only just arrived and it's been quite the experience already.

Tomorrow, I believe. It has the closest level of technology to where I was previously, at least.

[A tattooed redhead sitting beside a fire, if the flickering light is any indication, responds with a little smile of her own at her enthusiasm.]

It certainly seems like it! I...well, I was going to wait until morning to venture in, myself, but it appears it's daytime there? Very strange.

[It is very clearly night in Katherine's own location.]
boundinblood: (Can't we all just get along?)

[personal profile] boundinblood 2016-08-09 10:23 pm (UTC)(link)
[She's definitely outdoors - in fact, in the wilderness. There's no signs of civilization anywhere in the background, not even noise. There's very little light pollution, as well; what she can see of the sky is filled with stars.]

My own world. Do you think time passes differently between each one?

[The concept of it being a different time of day somewhere else is a little strange to Katherine. Her concept of her world, is, in fact, her continent, and that means generally day is day and night is night and that's true for everyone.]
boundinblood: (Can't we all just get along?)

[personal profile] boundinblood 2016-08-11 12:37 am (UTC)(link)
I've only found that to be true of our perception of time-...

[Wait a minute, she's forgetting that for any one person everything could be different.]

How many other planes have you seen? Here, there are only two, or there were until I was given this device.

[ The wardrobe choices are definitely interesting, but the yellow-tinted safety glasses and the username are hard to ignore. And, he has to admit, they're both pretty cool. ]

Not bad, huh? Have you gotten to explore the cities yet?

Wow, that's pretty awesome. So you're in the City of Tomorrow, I take it? Aren't the cars pretty damn awesome? I'm going to need to make one when I get back home.

Working on it. I'm actually going to try and get my hands on one and take it apart while I'm here.

[ His to-do list is getting pretty long, but whatever. He is truly a tinkerer, so taking the flying car apart is definitely a thing he needs to do. ]

Arthur.

[It certainly fits in with his username.]

I'm new as well. Very new, in fact; I only arrived a few days ago.

I don't like the way my voice sounds, if you want the truth. Texting is easier on me.

Besides: it's easier to do two things at once if I'm texting. I can give both the conversation and whatever I'm doing my full attention instead of constantly splitting it.

What does a nuclear engineer do, exactly? Or, more importantly: what does a nuclear engineer work on here?
