You all saw that ReQuest, right? About the hotel?
You think it's some kind of gimmick? I mean... come on. People do that kind of thing all the time. Market their hotel as haunted, make up some weird stuff to make people want to visit it... Boom, lots of publicity if they can get a few people to go along with it.
Is anyone seriously thinking about going?

Like even if the spirits don't exist easing their worries sounds like an okay idea

I mean, I guess, but... what if the hotel owner is the serial killer and they're just luring innocent people to the hotel so they can murder them. Did you ever think about that?
[Harry, you watch too much TV.]

Besides, a free place to stay is also a very good deal.
no subject
I have money, I don't need a free place to stay, pal
no subject
Wait. Not my point. My POINT is that why are you kicking a guy when he's down, man
no subject
Because he was stupid enough to have a nightmare hotel. I'm not saying I believe in the whole... ghost thing, but what even justifies going to Nightmare in the first place? If I'm gonna go, I want more than just a free room.
That place is Creep Central!
no subject
Think about it ok
Besides the guy sounding scared as shit (which is a good reason to help in the first place if you have a HEART) we'll be dealing with... something Nightmare-y. Like a wolf or a vampire or fucking Danny DeVito and my POINT
Don't you think maybe something supernatural might happen? You know how in video games sometimes the protagonist is sucked out of their homeworld and then dropped somewhere else and then given some legendary weapon and then BOOM they're killing shit?
This whole SFC thing has been reminding me of a video game so far. I mean the places are named after what you can find in them!!
And my point is can you imagine what kinda legendary weapon fate might bestow upon your rich ass in a city full of out of this world creatures??
no subject
Hmmm. That's a good point, though... considering the stuff that's happened in Sorcery and Adventure, I guess. Like - Adventure has all these artifacts, supposedly.
I wouldn't mind a legendary monster-killing weapon of fate...
[You can practically hear the gears turning in Harry's head, BECAUSE THIS WOULD BE GREAT. Nightmare still creeps him right the hell out, but--]
Are YOU going?

I'm a brute, and that means I can take what I dish out.
Get it?
Arachnos has anti ghost tech on port oakes, maybe someone should pay them a visit.
no subject
[Well, technically, Harry constitutes as one of those! He thinks. Probably. Not that he can exactly say that over the network.]
I've never heard this stuff before.
Arachnos? Is that someone here at the SFC?

Sounds an awful lot like you've got experience with that.
no subject
But the tech, the ghost traps? They'd be real useful.
no subject
Hm. I wouldn't be much help, but I might be able to find someone who CAN help you get that stuff if you want.
no subject
That could help. Need either stealth or big muscle or both.
no subject
[Well, he can probably provide both as the Goblin. He's confident enough in his abilities now. He'll just... have to make sure he-as-Harry doesn't need to be around.]
Huh, okay. I know a few people who fit the bill. Should I send them straight to you or...?
no subject
[Just hope you have more than just the Goblin.]
It would be good to have two or three or four.
no subject
[n o p e, but they can figure something out.]
You might consider making a post on the network then. You know more about this... Arachnos stuff than I do, and there's plenty of people on the CALL that'd probably be up for helping. Just in case my contacts fall through, you know?
no subject
Well I'm gonna do another thing anyway. Soooo I'll get on that.
un: basileus
There's nothing wrong if it's the latter. Spirits are no light matter and you're actually wiser to be hesitant to try and solve this particular problem if you don't have any experience with the supernatural. In fact, I would advise you to keep away and allow others to go in your stead if that's the case.
no subject
I'm worried it's a false claim, yeah.
I mean... what's stopping the guy that's asking for help from being the real serial killer? Or from hiding one? It's the City of Nightmares, right? That seems like a scheme that'd be right up its alley. I just think it'd be a good idea to think about what you might be walking into before taking stuff at face value, y'know?
whispers i'm sorry he likes to talk...
[He fits in with it after all. And not only does he fit in due to his very nature, but he seeks to gain control over the whole of it for himself.]
However, not all who occupy the City of Nightmares are monsters. It wouldn't be able to survive if that were the case. So, as with every city, there are predators and there is prey. I think this man is the latter, but you believe him to be the former. You're wise to approach this with caution, but what exactly is it that he's done to give you the impression that he might be a predator himself?
If you think he's laying a trap, he's set a poor one. He mentioned that he consulted with others. It wouldn't be difficult to ask him in a safe manner the names and contact information of the individuals in question to verify what he's saying. You could make the argument that they are in his pocket in some way, but there does come a point where you are simply being paranoid rather than observant.
And more important than a means of checking out his story, the reward is not enticing enough to most.
It's obvious that it's of value to him when he mentions that he's losing business as a result of the problem he's presenting, but for most of us, we would be more comfortable with a room elsewhere even when it comes attached with a fee. That means he's largely relying upon the generosity of others. However, people require motivation to engage in a problem as difficult and as dangerous as what he's described as it's not merely spirits, but that of a killer and his victims.
The potential benefits do not outweigh the costs for most and they must possess either a truly altruistic heart, be incredibly desperate, or be the sort of person who would thrive in a place like this. All three of those persons would be a significant threat to him and would be a poor choice for a killer to select as his next set of victims. That means even for him, the risk is most likely greater than the reward, if he were the killer.
It's good that you're taking the time to consider the possibility of ill-intent, but remember that you cannot discount alternatives to what you suspect unless you have something to disprove them.
LMAO i love it. harry on the other hand...
I think I blacked out partway through that thing.
Summarize, man.
harry pls he's trying to be nice to you
harry's an idiot and doesn't know better
I don't need a thesis paper on it.
covers my face
You're afraid.
You're afraid of where the hotel is. You're afraid of what it is he's asking you to do.
Someone filled with that much fear is ill-suited to a task like this as I said. Your fear and insecurities will be turned into weapons and used against you in an instant. Leave it to others to solve this problem and put it out of your mind. There's no shame in it. Recognizing one's limitations is important.
WOW DIO way to hit the nail on the head
You don't even KNOW me. You don't get to make assumptions about me.
Back off, pal.
I'M SORRY HE'S JUST bootyblasted, so this is what he does
But you're free to prove me wrong.
DON'T BE SORRY i love it, and harry is so easy to aggro
If I do, it won't be because I have anything to prove to you. [But it kind of will. HE'S NOT SCARED, DAMNIT.]

If my opinion doesn't matter and what I'm saying isn't true, I wouldn't anticipate a reaction like this. Surely you're not that sensitive...
no subject
[No, Harry. You're that sensitive.]
It's not my fault you couldn't take a joke. Maybe you're the sensitive one.

[He might have had more success picking at Dio's temper if he did it sooner than now, but he's too satisfied with his petty little revenge at calling Harry out on being afraid to care much beyond that.]
