[The camera first focuses on Katherine's rather unimpressed and exhausted face.]

How am I supposed to understand most of this when it doesn't even cover a single thing I recognize? Blood, I know, everyone knows what it is and that it keeps us alive and losing it is very bad, but-...

[She turns the device around, and the image resolves from the blur of sudden motion as it auto-finds a stack of three medical books, ranging in target readership from roughly ages eight to twenty.]

But all of these break blood down into these...cells and things. What are these cells supposed to be? And phlegm and bile come from entirely different places and-...

...why does none of this so much as mention effects on temperament?

[The feed goes dark as the device goes face-down on the table, and judging from the sounds of it, Katherine's rested her head beside it. Her voice is muffled, in this case by her arms.]

Am I poking about in the wrong direction? Should I be looking at magic instead?

Guess where I am!

[A grey face appears on the screen, surrounded by thick black hair and a pair of cat shaped horns. Two gray eyes peer out from within that mass of hair and a smile beams brightly. The camera pulls back a little to show off the lovely river she's beside and dips and twists as she fumbles to show off the buildings nearby. It would appear she's in the City of Romance but that might only be because there's far more couples walking by than seems normal]

My device finally decided to work! I'm not purrticularly sure where I am but it's wonderful. And it's so bright! I've never been anywhere so bright. And everything is covered in white and it's just--gorgeous. I've never seen anything like it.

[And when words finally seem to fail her, she squeals and spins in place] Oh efurryone home is going to be so jealous. Kurloz and me meeting strange new people!

So--So, where is efurryone? I am here. [She holds up her device and makes a slow circle. It looks like she's near the border of Tommorow and Romance] Directions would be nice!

(^・o・^) < Oh what have we here? It appurrs to be a device linked to a secret network!
(=^ω^=) < I s33 you there Purrloz!
\(=^ω^=)ノ < Even without your color I can sniff out your poetry anywhere. <33

(=゜-゜=) < I am still not furry sure who this belongs to as Mewtuna has not b33n over in ages and I have a purrsonal communication device already.
(=^‥^=) < Though I had to enter my own handle so that might make finding said owner difficult
(=^ω^=) < But wow you all talk about so many things!
(=^ω^=) < And you have such good make up effects, seriously, 11/10 would watch again!

(=^ω^=) < Either way, I wanted to post to say I have found a lovely device with a pawsome mountain background that I think is probably missed.
\(=^‥^)/ < Message me with your handle and I shall return it right away.

[It's not exactly the introduction McCree was expecting to make - not that this whole thing is anything he would've expected to begin with - but after hassling people over poetry, it's time to get down to business.

And he definitely has the time to spare.]

So does this kind of shit happen here often? [He gestures with the lit cigar he's holding.] Just casual news posts about serial killers, rounded off with fancyass coffees?

[He pauses to take a drag, mulling it over. Maybe it's not his place, but something needs to be done.]

Is anyone else gonna hunt that bastard down, or am I gonna have to do it myself?

[Being holed up in a safehouse as she is, Ana is a little short on stimulating conversation. As much as she might want to resist engaging in this strange magical cellphone, she doesn't hold out for too long. After all, from what she can tell, these people have no idea who she is.

What she posts comes in two pieces, the first a series of lines in Arabic text followed by a helpful translation in English. The second piece is commentary.]

I was addicted to my sorrows,
Until I became scared of not being sorrowful.
And I was stabbed thousands of times,
Until it felt painful not to be stabbed.
And I was cursed in all the languages,
Until I became nervous of not being cursed.
And all the countries seemed the same,
in that I neither see myself there, nor do I see myself here.

I came across this while reading, so I thought I might share it. No particular reason, except than I found it to be moving. I wouldn't mind hearing your opinions.

[ When the video clicks on, Sam's in his Falcon gear, though his wings are tucked away and he hasn't put on his goggles yet. ]

All right, given the kind of people I've seen around here, I'm betting I'm not the only one who took an interest in what the hell's going on in the Satellite. Not that I'm all that interested in involving myself in another war, but-

[ He shrugs, because it ain't like he's got a lot of options. There'd been a call for help, and Sam isn't the kind of guy who could ever ignore it. Even when he's supposed to be on vacation. ]

I'm not exactly suggesting we coordinate or anything, but if anyone else is planning on trying to meddle in shit, well, it might be a lot easier if no one's tripping over each other.

[Felicity was brilliant when it came to hacking into places that she had no business being. She had no problem with that. The thing with Felicity was that she always seemed to embarrass herself without really meaning to. It wasn't like she woke up in the morning thinking today is the day that I'm going to humiliate myself, but alas. The device kicks on and Felicity can be seen in her room. song can be heard playing, and Felicity was moving around the room tidying things up.]

I'm bringing bootie back.... [small spin, eyes closed. Felicity loved music]

tell the skinny bitches that.... I'm all about that bass, no treble.

[She turned shaking her bootie at the camera]

[At first, the wrong camera turns on, showing the book Katherine has laid out on the table, pages bathed in sunlight from a nearby window. It's nonfiction - biology, in fact, and its target audience likely in the young teens crowd. The open page displays a labeled diagram of a strand of DNA and a Punnett square with an explanation in small print, courtesy of a cartoonish character sitting on its corner, clearly drawn by an adult attempting to appeal to a younger crowd they only superficially understand. The normal-sized text at its side explains hereditary traits, with a side of how DNA determines everything about a person's appearance. It's helpfully colloquial.]

Well, I can't say I completely understand all of this, but- oh, wait, I've got it the wrong way, haven't I?

[She switches to the front camera to show her face instead, bags under her eyes indicating a rather long self-imposed study session. She raises a mug of something no longer hot enough to require one to her lips and sets it down offscreen with a gentle thunk. The window beside her reveals the skybridges, flying cars, and gleaming metal towers of Tomorrow, from several stories up.]

There we are! Now, as I was saying, am I right in guessing this means the...the essence of who we are is in...all of us? Does that mean spells that require a bit of, say, hair, from the caster have worked on the same principles as blood magic all along?

background not in the video )

[The camera looks up on a woman clothed in crimson, curious eyes searching the frame. A huge brown mastiff looms over her shoulder (showing her to be seated on the ground), watching the recording with equally inquisitive eyes - equally discerning.]

...Have I done it right?

[The dog whines curiously.]

I might as well, at worst nobody hears me. Um... [She clears her throat.] This is Warden-Commander Katherine Amell of Ferelden. This device said it could be used to communicate with others who had another one. Oh, like a tiny eluvian... [she murmurs in sudden realization, before remembering herself and focusing on the screen again.] ...Anyway, is anyone hearing this? ...I see myself on the screen, is anyone seeing the same?
