So I got an idea to deal with that ghost thing in nightmare city, but to do it I need some strong people to come with me to commandeer some ghost traps from an evil crime organization with some serious fire power.

People who have stealth skills, who can tank energy blasts and blunt force weapons, and fire arms, those are the people who should come help me out.

Then we just give that tech to whoever is gonna go deal with the ghosts, and we do our part.

Diana has set herself up in front of her CALL device so that it has a clear shot of her face, and most of her upper body. She's in the traditional tiara-and-W-Eagle-bustier she's known for. Behind her, a few melee weapons of Amazon make can be seen stored and displayed, as well as the helm for her "screaming eagle" suit of armour. Also: a pot of tea and some potted plants of various types.

"Hello, I thought perhaps introducing myself here and getting to know some others would be helpful. My name is Diana, and I am from an island called Themyscira, where I grew up among my Amazon sisters.

I've also come to be known in my home reality as Wonder Woman, a name I do my best to live up to as both an individual, and am Ambassador to Patriarch's World.

I will be upfront and say I possess abilities beyond the human norm. I won't list them, but you're free to ask if you're curious.

You think it's some kind of gimmick? I mean... come on. People do that kind of thing all the time. Market their hotel as haunted, make up some weird stuff to make people want to visit it... Boom, lots of publicity if they can get a few people to go along with it.

H-hello, visitors. I... well, I hate to bother you, especially with something as... unp-pleasant as this, but the representatives over in Tomorrow assured me that you may be able to assist me with my... predicament.

You see, I run the Beechwood Hotel here in Nightmares and as you might expect, there are understandable... difficulties in running such an establishment. One of them has become rather intolerable at this point and so I was hoping that perhaps some of you people, given your... status, might be able to assist me in removing this particular presence from my building.( Read more... )

[Frankly, Dio's not in the mood. Not that he's exactly a paragon of patience most days, but right here and now he doesn't have much patience to offer anyone or anything. Someone else might try to look at this on the bright side, of course. He's clearly not dead here, and there's nothing that absolutely rules out the possibility of him returning to right where he left off. Maybe some other time, when he's had time to put a little more distance between himself and where he left off, he'll think of that. But for right now? Right now, the bitter taste of defeat still lingers on the back of his tongue. Compounding his sour mood even further on that little fact is that he can't do anything about it right now.]

[But Dio is a skilled liar, if nothing else, and he does still possess a modicum of control over his temper that he doesn't throw a tantrum. To do so now would be far, far too costly now that he's found himself thrust into an unfamiliar situation. And he refuses to be caught off-guard right here and now, which means figuring out this...device. There really isn't anything exactly comparable in his world, but Dio's not an idiot. He can figure it out with little trial and error.]

Interesting. [He looks and sounds more pleased than he actually feels when the video feed begins, but it's unlikely anyone would be able to really question how genuine it is.] The technology here is impressive. In my day, there weren't many who would believe something like this is possible. I can only guess as to how clever the minds who dreamed this device in reality truly were and I'm sure this will prove useful moving forward.

[His smile increases only by a fraction, but it carries with it an enormous amount of warmth. Dio is here to play nice.]

[Of all the things that have happened to Giorno Giovanna in his young life — well. This isn't not weird, but it's also not the weirdest. He's still in his own body and no parts of his face are being sliced off, so honestly it's okay. That, and the fact that he's done a fair amount of recon already, plus the fact that anyone who comes after him is in for a nasty surprise, is what makes him look so aggressively serene when he addresses the network.]

[That, plus he just always looks like the offspring of Michelangelo's collected works and Italian fashion week. If he lays on the accent a little thick, it's probably not for nefarious reasons (but it might be) (at least a little nefarious).]

Ah, buonasera, hello everyone! I'm sure you are all very busy on a Friday night, but I wanted to at least say hello as a new arrival. I'm still trying to get a feel for everything at the moment [this is not true] but so far this place seems very . . .

[Coming on screen is someone who clearly doesn't know how to use a camera, frame a shot, or even speak into one. It's as if he hadn't used a camera phone before, which is accurate. Very accurate. He turns his ears back and squints at it. Oh. It is working. Okay.

The kid, with clear animal features, looks pretty beat up. His clothes are ragged and torn and looks like he hasn't had a good brush through his fur in a while, let alone a proper bath or shower. He doesn't seem to mind too much about that though.]

I don't know what's goin' on around here, not quite. Not too big a' deal though cos' for far as I can tell it ain't terribly dangerous around here. Better than what I heard about Paragon anyway. Shining city of hope or dreams or whatever, right? Is that the story around here? Cos that's the vibe I'm getting.

Seein' as how going home won't do me any good, any chance anyone'll help me find a place to stay around here? This place is wacky, but pretty mild compared to most alternate realities I've ever heard of. I mean c'mon, for every good reality there's a hundred that suck.

Okay, so the lady at the desk says that you're supposed to use this thing to talk to other people, right?

[ The camera sweeps around the foyer of the McAran Tower, stopping briefly on the receptionist's face before finally stopping on the face of the owner of the device. She's deathly skinny, with a pale yellowish tone to her skin that suggests malnutrition. Her hair hangs around her face like straw, unkempt and ragged. And she's only a teenager, a young one at that. ]

Hi. I'm Azula, I'm here because I'm a refugee from the unpleasant aftershocks of a hundred year long war finally ending. I'm broke, I'm homeless...I don't even have clothes or shoes.

[ She sweeps the device down her body. She's wearing a thin hospital gown that's covered in dirt in ways that suggest it's been worn for several months in a row, and she has a single house slipper on her foot, the other one had fallen off while she was trying to get a hold of the CALL device despite being restrained. Some kind person has removed said restraints, but the bruised abrasions where the shackles had originally gone are visible on her skin, some of them reddish with infection. ]

I'll...rebuild my dignity later, can someone buy me some clothes? And a cup of tea if you really want my undying gratitude.

I got this guy named Clark (smallvilleguy on this... network? Is it called a network?) who agreed to team up with me, so that makes us two already.

Also I have no idea what crap'll be out there but it'll probably be MARGINALLY safer if people had other people watching their backs!

Mission: 001 [Mapmakers Guild]

[ A new app has appeared on your CALL device, labeled only 'Missions' with an icon that appears to be a donut-like shape, cut into seven differently-colored pieces. And it will be bouncing somewhat irritatingly until you listen to the message. ]

Good afternoon. My name is [ static ], and I happen to be a representative of the Mapmakers Guild here in the SFC. We're very excited to be some of the first folks to be utilizing the new CALL device program here in the City and we're very hopeful that we'll see some great results from you all.

To business, however.

As all know, the Islands around our fair city are a strange and finicky lot. Not only is information sketchy at best when it comes to how to get anywhere, but we're very often at a loss to know what's even out there. However, thanks to the St. Vidicon folks, we've been utilizing some new technology along with some very old records to try and start mapping out these strange little spots.

There is nothing a mapmaker hates more than writing 'here be dragons' unless they actually happen to know there are dragons there, after all.

That's why we've chartered three ships, each one given the necessary coordinates to the first set of islands we've found, for two or more of you folks to do some exploring for us. We'd really like if you took notes, but even just some general descriptions and information would be more helpful than not.

Why two or more? Well, we want to make sure that we're reporting facts and not just opinions. So we figure with at least two of you, we'll combat some of the bias that might happen otherwise.

The information for the ships should be attached to this message and there should be a spot where you can ask us questions, as well as another one where you can report your findings.

Anyway, we really appreciate the help! And good luck!

He'd scoured the room for anything out of place before he'd even considered opening it - and once he did discover the strange little electronic device, he'd spent a good hour learning how it works before he broadcasted anything. When he's finally ready to make his virtual presence known, he first chooses the open network.]

Right - I've got the worlds idea, yeah? And the aliens, City of Tomorrow - all that. I can read what you're all saying.

[That doesn't mean he necessarily believes it, but he at least doesn't need introductory explanations.]

There's just one thing I can't figure out. If I were to push this button here, 'transport' - what would happen? What are we meant to be transporting?

[Themselves, it sounds like. He'll go somewhere - he's gotten that much, from reading the comments - and it sounds like it'd be easy to return. But this is all completely unfamiliar territory to him, and he is going to be cautious.]
